There are a great choice of local places to eat and drink and these two sites will help you to discover them.

Gairloch has a book shop, gift shops and galleries, a weekly craft and food market, a local weekly Ceilidh in Poolewe during the summer,  a great butchers and a couple of convenience stores.

Inverewe Gardens – These remarkable and famous gardens are just a short drive from the house.,   Owned by the National Trust for Scotland, there are hundreds of exotic species of plants from around the world, all thriving in the warm, humid climate of Scotland’s west coast.

Other smaller, but equally impressive gardens can be found at: – Attadale, near Achnasheen

The Hydroponicum, Achiltibuie – a magnificent array of plants, including bananas, growing in an indoor garden. 

Visit  our local museum – the best wee museum in Scotland- to find out about the areas culture and heritage.

In 20 minutes you can be in the Torridons where the visitor centre provides a great insight into the areas unique geology and varied wildlife including a live web cam of our local eagles:

Plockton,  Ullapool, and Appelcross are just are just over an hour taking in some stunning scenery along the way. 

You can even take a trip across to Skye in around an hour and a half from the house.

If you need a city fix Inverness is an hour and 15 minutes away and even Loch Ness would be achievable for a day trip.  But who needs Nessy when you have beautiful Loch Maree on our doorstep!
