Walking/Climbing

A few suggestions include:

Flowerdale: This scenic glen runs up behind our house with a network of paths and great spots for a picnic.  Finish up with a drink at the Old Mill Inn just a few minutes walk from the house.

Beinn Eigh Nature Reserve:  Explore the amazing natural history of this area.

Poolewe to Loch Maree:   Loch Maree flanked by rugged mountains is steeped in history and has over 60 islands which retain the once prevalent cover of native Caledonian Pine Forest.

Mellon Udrigle to the ruined crofting village of Slaagan.     Soak up the sun! on the gorgeous white sands of the beach at Mellon Udrigle.   Who needs the Caribbean!

Redpoint  Follow the old crofters trail into Loch Torridon

For the more serious hill walker Wester Ross has :

32 Corbetts (hills over 2500 feet)

40 Munros (hills over 3000 feet)

Whether you want to scale the peaks or explore the glens, the mountain ranges of Wester Ross provide some outstanding scenery all accessible by tracks and mountain paths:

  • Achnaschelloch and Torridon Mountains
  • The Dundonnel and Fisherfield Mountains
  • Fannich and Ullapool Hills
